“THE place to stay if you are exploring Shonan ”
I stayed at this hotel last year. It's a great place to stay - the price is really good, the rooms are really comfortable (though small, as expected). The hotel has sort of a hippy/surfer vibe to it - the nearby coast is actually a surfing hotspot. They've cut back on the breakfast - last year it was truly amazing (my favorite was the okra stew), but it's still pretty good - unlimited breakfast rolls and croissants, salad, soup (they have vegetarian/meatless options), cereal, coffee, etc. You have the option of a hotdog main course (which I didn't take). It's very close to the railway station and the Enoden (which will take you to Kamakura). There are many food options nearby - several izakaya, a Uodon (which serves amazing takeaway sashimi rice bowls - lots of sashimi and rice, with many options under 700 yen), a Saizeria within 15 minutes walk, and several grocery stores (visit these around 8 or 9pm to get discount bento and sashimi) and four or five convenience stores within a 5 minute walk. Most of the customers seemed to be young Japanese couples, some with babies or toddlers, and some Chinese tourists. I only encountered one European guest. The sauna/spa is swimsuit-obligatory and mixed gender, unlike others in Japan - they'll rent you a swimsuit if you didn't bring one. I suspect they do it that way to appeal to the young couples, who want to experience it together. There is an ice machine/water dispenser on the 4th floor in the panty, which I used quite a bit, and a laundromat on the 6th floor. The staff speaks enough English to be of help, and are very helpful and friendly. One amenity I took advantage of this time around was the free tuk-tuk ride - it leaves the hotel every morning at 11. It took me down to Enoshima, with stops along the way to photograph the Shonan Monorail, the Enoden between Enoshima and Koshigoe where it runs along the street, along the beach where you could watch wind-surfers wind-surfing, and on Enoshima, where it went behind the yacht marina. On that day, Mount Fuji was visible (it's rarely visible) so it dropped me off there. I will probably stay here again in 2026, likely in November again, and I hope they bring back the 2024 breakfast!
