Old but gold”
The grand Lapa Macau is associated to the Mandarin Oriental group. Therefore you would expect, great staffs, old hotel but bed pillows are goose-downs crispy cotton sheets and excellent room services. Grand Lapa has a charming classic vibe to its lobby and staffs were very helpful in helping me get around the city with the buses, always helpful always greeted by my last name. The staffs of the Grand Lapa gave me an excellent of the hotel and my trip to Macau.

Family Visit to Macau”
This is the second time I have stayed at the Grand Lapa Macau. The Pool, Spa, and gym facilities are just the most fantastic (out of all the hotels I have ever been to) and the location next to the fish man wharf is great for a different restaurant or bar each night and the Sands Casio is 10 steps from the back door. You can walk into the city very easily or jump a No3 bus for $3.60 MOP within a 5 minutes’ walk to get to the sights. The hotel seafood buffet is great value for money, there dessert selection is HUGH..., and they love the kid there. The Rooms has not changed in 4 years since I was there last and the TV is something out of the dark ages (hehe) and the décor is somewhat dated, but it is always very clean the staff excellent. I always manage to pick up 50% deal there and got free Wi-Fi with this special. If you looking for value for money and close to everything with a great pool. The Grand Lapa is for you…Enjoy

Grand Lapa was an excellent choice!”
The staff, facilities, room and the value for the price at the Grand Lapa Macau Hotel were fantastic. A warm welcome and friendly smile while checking in at the front desk was just the beginning. If you are looking for a quiet and comfortable hotel on the Macau peninsula, this is the right choice. It is conveniently located near all the action and with wonderful facilities and a very comfortable room, you can't go wrong. The staff at the front desk were simply exquisite. I will be staying here again soon!

Showing its age but still has class”
As a friend of mine during a previous stay "this place still has class" - and it's true. It's still part of the Mandarin Oriental hotels group and it's difficult to fault the service. I've been returning to this hotel two to three times a year since it first opened as Mandarin Oriental Macau in 1984. Nothing much has changed room wise, they still sport CRT televisions. There is now a superb resort adjacent to the hotel. Sadly the once excellent ground floor bar has been replaced by brand name shops. Superbly located, the Grand Lapa is just minutes from the ferry and within walking distance of most of the tourist sights and some good restaurants. The breakfast in the Café Bela Vista on the second floor is without doubt one of the best to be served in Macau - or anywhere else for that matter. On the downside, there is no free internet or wifi and you are required to pay quite a lot for a password.

Relaxing stay at Grand Lapa”
Everything was great about our stay at the Grand Lapa. The room, location, staff, facilities and atmosphere made it easy for us to enjoy our 3 days and 2 nights in Macau. The staff were very helpful and after leaving the room in a mess in the morning we always came back to a neat and tidy room after a long day of explorng. We would highly recommend the Grand Lapa if you intend on having a luxurious stay that is separate from the hustle and bustle of the hectic Macau nightlife but if you wish to enjoy the night scene you are note than able to do so.

Don't be fooled by its old and aged facade! ”
I chose grand lapa for my macau trip because it's listed as a 5 star hotel and the price was pretty good.. so decided to give it a go. Upon getting off the cab, i had a shock and had doubts about my booking because the facade was simply too outdated and dirty (they really really could use a makeover). well nothing i could do anyway since i have already paid for it.. when i went in... my perception changed 180 degrees! it does feel grand and luxurious inside.. like how a 5 stars hotel should be. drank at their lounge, had breakfast, and ordered room service. overall i'm happy with my dining experience. price is very reasonable too. location wise, it's a 5 mins ride to all major casinos / ferry terminals room is definitely comfortable for me. spacious, clean and i hav a good view of the airport where the sea is. reasonable priced as well. one BAD point however, the facilities area is strangely 1 building away, you would hav to walk through the public path way (1 minute walk) to get there. which means if you wanna hav a swim, make sure you are nicely covered with shower robe or towel when you walk there... to avoid public eyes staring at you. lastly.. totally enjoyed my experience there.

Never tire of staying here”
the once mighty mandarin oriental on avenida de amizade has slipped a bit since being demoted to the grand lapa although it is still operated by mo hotels. it’s showing signs of age but despite the musty smell it still has class. the service is still top class and many of the staff remember me by name on each visit. i've been returning to this hotel two to three times a year since it first opened in 1984. the resort, which has suffered the misfortune of having the ugly reflective yellow glass walled sands hotel and casino built 30 metres away from the swimming pool, is one of the best in macau. the spa offerings (i had the sports massage) are fairly pricy but you come out feeling on top of the world. the breakfast in the café bela vista on the second floor is without doubt one of the best to be served in macau - or anywhere else for that matter. the only complaint i have is that there is still no free internet or wifi.

I am travelling alone for this trip. I arrived late and i have my room upgraded at no fee. Really appreciate and this have added to my stay a more pleasant and comfortable one. The location is great as i can walk to many nearby eatery and some grand hotels for sight-seeing. The bar on L2 is great too as i had my one pint before i call it a day. Hotel is quiet and clean which is a plus point of i will return again. Housekeeping team must have done a good job to maintaining the overall cleanliness of the whole place. Keep up the good job! I love Grand Lapa Macau Hotel.. 丽

Perfect for Macau!”
The Grand Lapa is located in an excellent area with a major casino resort just feet away. The hotel itself is spectacular. The rooms are spacious and have all the amenities you would expect from one of the larger resorts, but at half the price (actually less than half). The beds are comfortable and the rooms included a huge television with many channels to choose from. The bathrooms have a rainforest shower and a decent size tub. I ordered room service during my stay for breakfast and it was decently priced, delivered promptly and was delicious. The real reason why we stay at the Grand Lapa is the pool. The temperature was in the high 60s / low 70s on the days we were there, but the pool is heated and surrounded by plants and trees. Its an excellent way to spend an afternoon before going out for the night. This is my third stay at the Grand Lapa and definitely not my last!

our kids enjoy the swimming pool so much that they just want to stay at the hotel all day”
1. amazing swimming pool, very tropical and relaxing atmosphere, the water slide is very fun to play. 2.all the staff are very polite and friendly, I forgot to pick up the anniversary cake hotel give us, but they make me a new one the next day, great service! 3.breakfast is good,..not fancy but fresh and delicious. the restaurant is very elegant, it got little bit of Peninsula Hotels feeling. 4.room is newly renovated, very comfy and stylish, we can see the pool and science museum and little bit of sea from our room., our kid love it. 5.hotel location is not so close to the city center, but you can take sands shuttle next door, it will bring you to pretty much everywhere , and taxi in Macau is relatively cheap, just grab a one and go to the historical center. last,,my wife, I and our two kids like to say a big thank you to Susan Zhu and all the staff who made our 4 days vacation in Grand Lapa a unforgettable memory, thank you.

Very very good! But kinda far from the attractions in Taipa”
Definitely one of my favorite hotels! Got a very good deal, and the staffs are great. We were upgraded to balcony suite on the 18th floor. Although it's facing the Waldo Casino and not the bay or city, it's still nice. Though the walls are thin, no major distraction occurred since we stayed there on weekends (no ongoing construction). Pools were nice, my 5 y/o nephew and I enjoyed the slide. There are heated, lukewarm and cold (because of the weather there around 20deg C) pools. Many Filipino staffs there willing to help with our itinerary. Free airport shuttle operates in the morning only. Sands Macao is just across so you can just ride their shuttle buses, mind you that Sands doesn't have direct bus to airport so we rode a taxi instead with 75mop bill coming from Grand Lapa, plus ~15mop on top of metered bill for our luggages. Senado Square is also near with only 30mop taxi bill, if you're time conscious. Fisherman's Wharf is nice, just across Grand Lapa and Sands, it's open 24/7.

A different pace”
the grand lapa is one of those hotels that definitely does not fit in with its surroundings. to step into its lobby is to escape the disorientating dazzle of macau's many many casino complexes. (note the grand lapa does have a casino annexed to the hotel but it doesnt intrude upon the senses). heavy on dark wooden pannels and dim, soft lighting fixtures the lapa is a place of calm - considerate, relaxed, comforting. the rooms are a little dated but they dont crowd you, the decor is simple not pretenious with gloss. yet if it is the physcial that creates an impression it is the service and charm of the lapa's staff that weaves a memory. people like jackie menez the beverage and bar manager at lapa's vasco restaurant or rita at the front desk know just how to read a person's mood - to walk the line between attentive, unobtrusive service and disarming hosts. others have said it about the lapa, so i am merely adding to the chorus - if you are looking for a hotel where you dont melt into a throng of people, where the staff can make the experience a personal one - then the lapa has to be at the top of the list.

Good value for money and not inside a casino!”
We stayed in this hotel 10 years ago when it was still called Mandarin Orient! We liked the quiet surrounding and a hotel without the busy attractions that is typical with most hotels in Macau that are inside/extension of a casino! This has eroded to some extend – same as the whole Macau where its old beauty and quiet gave way to the glitter and bustle of the casino pilgrims. Overall the hotel maintained up to the “Mandarin Orient” standard, although a bit old but it is clean and spacious. The food and quality of the service is very good. We enjoyed the breakfast and relax in the pool side. The walk about around the hotel was pleasant. You can find nice little café or local restaurants that serves a variety of food. Be careful with the name—do not tell the taxi driver “Mandarin Orient” this is a new hotel a short distance away! Must clearly say Grand Lapa!!

Hidden Gem”
Grand Lapa Macau is a property that gets overshadowed by the big hotels & resorts in Macau and it is a shame that this happens. The hotel has been recently renovated and the rooms are modern and comfortable. The pool is lovely and it makes guest feel like they are in a tropical paradise. I highly recommend this property.

Very good price given there is a resort”
Hello, Given the fact we booked last minute and didn't want to spend too much we ended up in the Grand Lapa after taking an online promotion. We had a very good surprise and my kids (4 and 6 years old) wanted to stay longer than the 2 nights we booked for the week-end. It certainly used to be a top 5 stars Hotel but it's ageing now and even though it is still very good you can see it is not all renovated and modern. Pros: - "Old hotel" means pretty spacious bedroom and bathroom which is a plus for us. - Dated but everything was very clean - Heated outside swimming pool with a slide for the kids (even if heated pool, in November you don't stay 2h00 in the water as it gets chilly after 30-45 minutes). - Friendly staff - Nice garden and playroom (though a bit old too) that the kids loved - Close to the Fisherman's Wharf so you can go walking and the kids loved walking there - Taxi available quite easily in front of the hotel - Old downtown Macau and Largo do Senado can be reached walking (but take between 20-30 minutes with the kids). If you take a taxi it literally takes lass than 5 minutes. Cons: - Not too many restaurant close by (but you have 2 or 3 inside the hotel) - You have to cross a public place (but no road) behind the hotel to access the spa/swimming pool, gardens and playroom. It's not really a cons but it's not quick to go back to your room if you forgot something. If you are looking for luxury and last modern commodity, it might not suit you. We are usually staying at 3 star hotels so an old 5 stars hotel was just a perfect stay for us. We would definitely recommend it and would go back again if we have the occasion.

Great mandarin style in a lovely environment”
we have stayed at the grand lapa on several occasions and always enjoy this quiet oasis in the middle of the frenetic macau mega hotel/casino world. the rooms are traditional upscale mandarin in style. a little smaller than in newer hotels, but comfortable and well appointed. the staff were superb, from the greet staff at the ferry terminal to the front of house, spa and pool staff. they make guests feel as if they are the most special visitor of the day. a nice touch in a busy city! the pool area and spa are superb ... great for a couple of sixty year olds to be able to enjoy the water slide!!!

Moderate Location,Clean & Cosy”
Grand Lapa Macau Hotel did not provide free shuttle bus at airport. Taxi fare cost MOP 92 from airport to Hotel. Not everyone knows can take Sands Macau free shuttle bus from airport to hotel because it just next door to Grand Lapa Macau hotel.

Great Customer Service!”
We booked Nov 4-5 and received nothing but the best. Do not ever think twice to book ths hotel. The staffs are very friendly while the outdoor pools are great where you can have option to use the cold or the warm jacuzzi style pool. They are also the only hotel in Macau that provides free room up to 2 children (18 yrs & below) with free breakfast. I inquired in Hotel Lisboa and i was literally told to just check online while Grand Lapa reservation went above & beyond by answering all my questions with a smile! I will be coming back Nov 8 2018 and i will highly recommend this Hotel.

Wonderful hotel!”
Hotel is big, grand and located just next to the pier. Sands hotel is just next to it, is very convenient to travel othersides of Macau. Room is a bit old but is clean n comfy. Swimming pool is excellent with a water slide which the kids love it very much. And personally love the sauna the best. However accessing to the pool, you gotta walk outside the hotel main building and cross the public area to another building which is the resort, thats abit strange with wet hair wearing the bathrobe walking infront of other pedestrians... Restaurants in the hotel taste very good and with reasonable price! We tried the buffet and thai restaurant were excellent!! Not yet mention the bakery inside the cafe on 2nd floor, everything tastes delicious. They are the very good options if you dont wanna go out to look for food. Afterall, it was a very pleasant stay in the Grand Lapa hotel with the nice helpful staff and great food and facilities. We will definitely visit again!

Escape from Hong Kong ( Kowloon )”
From our point of view Macau is a haven in comparison Hong Kong, only an hour jet ferry ride. You can actually speak to hotel staff in English and get acknowledged ! Not a great deal to do, however Hotel was great, bit expensive food wise however very quite, rooms were good they are being refurbishing at the moment so a bit noisy, but worth it. The pool area is terrific with service available, if I was to ever go back to this part of world ( I won't ) I would stay at Grand Lapa rather than the slum that Hong Kong has now become.
