Alleppey hotels & places to stay

Their are few places which comes with the right blend of modern amenities , best of service with a genuine smile all around. This is the place where it will make you think you under payed for the services you received. Let me explain why I think it is exemplary service. As soon as we entered the premises, they welcomed with a Garland, gave wet towel, with welcome drink . It was my wife birthday and due to busy travel schedule I couldn't arrange anything to celebrate her birthday. Once I checked in I asked for a cake in the restaurant, they were kind enough to take the request and gave me the cake as complimentary and made it has a surprise for my wife, they were part of our small celebration and money can't buy these small happinesses :-), it is next to beach however it was already late in the night and my wife wanted to see the sea in the night, security told that it is not safe however the obliged my request and escorted us to the sea shore , morning we attended the yoga session as well which was refreshing, morning troll on sea shore will be the best thing to do in the morning, it has one of the cleanest beaches in India. The rooms are very spacious and designed by US architect,which shows up in every detailing. Best part is that even though it has lot of outdoor space, all the spaces are isolated. One of the unique thing is that the bathroom is outdoor which let you explore taking bath in outdoor keeps ng your privacy intact, try it , you won't be dissappointed. Breakfast had a very good spread and meets both Western and Indian requirements. Swimming pool is next to restaurant and swimming pool has depth up to 4 feet, Children friendly pool. They have a orchid garden , butterfly garden and a very big farm where they grow vegetables as well. It a huge property and plenty to explore. They have a huge pond where you can try kayaking if you have enough pond in the pool. They have a local tuk tuk to explore the resort. You can also avail the bicycle to explore it yo

This is a great get-away-from-it-all hotel. It is accessible to Fort Cochin (1hr15mins) and Alleppey (45mins), but is more a remote hotel than a base to explore either of those places. We had read reports on taxi drivers being unable to find it therefore we booked a driver who had been there before and there was no trouble at all. The rooms are very nice - clean and bright and pleasant - on our level (level 2) rooms 204 and 211 have 'half views' and the rooms in between have full views. The staff are pleasant. The wifi is very irregular i.e. intermittent at best, but you can get to see emails etc. It definitely cant load photos (e.g. over iCloud). 1/2 hour free plus you pay for other usage. The food is good. I would love to return here. The key thing is the view - the pool overlooking the lake. It is spectacular - dawn to dusk. Unfortunately for the 24 or so rooms there were only 8 lounge chairs so there was a grab on them each morning. The hotel arranged a tour of the waterways at Kumarakom for us, which was great. Short of that we didn't leave the hotel.

Marari Beach is a lovely resort, the cottages are superb, and the whole place is wonderfully peaceful, especially the butterfly and vegetable gardens. BUT, and this is a big 'but', at the time of our visit there was a ban on the hotel serving any kind of alcohol. This was not their fault - Kerala had had some weird alcohol policies such as it was OK for Kochi hotels to serve alcohol as they were within a municipality, but other hotels within 500m of a road could not. Marari Beach compensated by arranging to buy alcohol for you (a max of 3L beer or 3L wine) from a registered government outlet and you were permitted to drink it in your own cottage, but any social aspect of drinking around a bar after dinner, meeting other guests etc. just didn't happen. On our last day there (18 March) the ban was lifted for beer and wine only (no spirits or cocktails) and I don't know what the situation is now. If you like a beer of a glass of wine, CHECK THIS OUT BEFORE YOU TRAVEL!

My mother and myself stayed 2 days in lake canopy on our holidays. Room is spacious and clean and has balcony. Food in restaurant is delicious and staff are very courteous. Though resort is not big, but it is very clean and peaceful and beside a lake. They provided half an hour complementary boat ride on our first day evening. On second day, we engaged shikara boat ride with outside (Alleppey shikara boats). They charged Rs 500 per hour. we had 4 hours ride that covered many places in backwaters. Overall, it is memorable stay in Alleppey, especially Lake canopy resort.

We really enjoyed our night at Lake Palace Resort. Usually I am not a resort traveler but I liked that this was a small local resort that felt connected to the place it was (not like a Sandals). Most of the other travelers were from different parts of India. We enjoyed the free offerings - the sunset cruise & cultural program and the food at the restaurant was pretty good. They have made a lovely little quiet haven which is not easy to find in India :) If you do plan to go I'd recommend splurging for a massage, their therapists were excellent.

I spent a few days at Abad and liked it. However everything at this property is a bit on the pricey side, compared to similar properties in India and abroad. The next part of my review is about Marari, not Abad. Marari beach is really beautiful except for the fact that its NOT clean. I went for a run on the beach in the morning and spotted at least 6 -7 guys defecating right at the beach. Something that you would never expect at a place like this. (Obviously Abad has nothing to with that. But something that you should know when going to Marari). Another thing to keep in mind is the location. Its a very quite place and isn't too touristy, which is a great thing. But you won't find anything near this resort - no restaurants, no bars, nothing. We would have loved to spend some time at some restaurants/bars by the sea. But that wasn't an option there.

The World Backwaters is an excellent property very well placed as the name suggests in the backwaters of Allepey. Very well planned the resort has all activities like Ayurveda & Massage Centre,Play Area,Gym,Swimming Pool.The best part was the Tree house overlooking the backwaters from where we could see all the house boats & Shikkaras.Clean and Plush rooms,very well designed.Also the resort had inbuilt lake for Pedal Boating.Good food but the staff at the restaurant was not very co-operative.Would definitely return on our next trip to Allepey.

My train was 5 hours late and I had a bit of a situation with an agressive taxi driver. From the moment I arrived until the Sad time to depart the staff were kind helpful and efficient. Exceptional food and a wonderful Spa.. I had the Shirodhara treatment which I would highly recommend. The room was very comfortable and stylishly decorated.. the mosaic bath was stunning. It was my last night in India and I could not have chosen a better place to stay.

My husband and I spent one night here while my parents watched our 1-year old. This was a perfect spot to relax! We ate by the pool, went swimming, went to the spa for Ayurvedic treatments (which were quite expensive in rupees), had a nice dinner with live Indian music (although next time I would order off the menu instead of the expensive buffet since I'm a vegetarian), had a quiet night in, walked by the water in the morning, had a great breakfast and then vegged on our balcony that faced the lake! It was quiet and we spoiled ourselves. Would definitely go here again the next time we are in india!

If you like the authentic and historic this resort is beautiful. The rooms were carefully restored to give the taste of an old idea that is getting hard to find. The gardens and views over the lake some of the best in Alleppey. Internet could do with upgrading to a faster wifi........but if you persevere messages do eventually get sent. The staff were helpful and gracious. I loved the cockerels and guinea fowl strutting about. Highly recommend a visit.

The stay in Carnoustie was by any means among the best experiences in my life. Not only the brilliant design of the villas with all detail and beauty but also the friendliness and goodwill of the team created for me and my partner an unforgettable trip. Even though we booked an ordinary villa type we were granted the largest type of villa with (for everyone that does not know) this incredible indoor pool you can see on the resort adds. Of course we extended our time in the resort. A large Thank You to Carnoustie!!

The boat and people were all very nice so i dont want to critiscise any aspects of our trip but rather provide some feedback to improve their new business for future guests. 1. As the agoda address is listed at the finishing point, and there is no information to the contrary in the description you assume that is where the boat is. However the boat is in fact at pallathuruthy bridge about 20 minaway, defeating the purpose of staying at the ramada at the finishing point. I only found this information out on the morning we were checking in, when told via whatsapp despite repeated requests on how to find the boat. I demanded a free transfer there and back so they organised a rickshaw there but nothing for way back as no one met us when we docked. Tge captain had to run up and try and find a tuk tuk for us which we paid for. 2. The intinerary was not great. We saw one bit of the river six times by going up and back three times, just down from where we boarded the boat. We essentially went up and back the same stretch of canal and did not visit a village at night as promised on the agoda itinerary and were not served toddy on the boat which was also listed on the agoda summary. We were taken to buy seafood for dinner but 800 rupees for 4 prawns was exhorbitant and we didnt purchase. 3. We were told the day before that we were changing boats from what we booked but no offer of refund or discount. The boat was still very good but tge mosquito nets werent put down at night like the other boat parked next to us. 4. We spent at least 1 hour docked while another houseboat guest had a massage, meaning we missed seeing the sunset on the river as it was blocked from that docking point. The crew didnt tell us how long it would be and this resulted in us finishing the cruise and docking in the dark. This was a bit disappointing. 5. We were one of the last boats to move in the morning, meaning we only got about an hour moving compared to the couple promised. We had see

Not a big property compared to others nearby. Still have most of the facilities that one may require during the stay. Rooms are extra spacious, with high cleanliness. Choice of dishes were limited, may be requested at short notice but very delicious. Staff members did their best to keep us comfortable. A bit pricy, I feel. Overall good and had wonderful time. My rating would be 4/5.

Pro: 1. Nice location. You can opt for lake view/facing rooms (1st floor). You will have a great view. 2. You get a 1 hour complimentary ride at your convenient time. It was indeed a pleasant ride. 3. The food is good. 4. Good landscape within the resort (nearer to the lake). 5. Kids will enjoy this place. Con: 1. The food service was a bit late. But if you pre-order for a specified time, it will be ready on time. But immediate order service is a bit late.

The staff at this hotel went above and beyond to help and make us feel welcome during our stay here. They were all so polite and friendly and the vegetarian food was delicious. Having said this we did find alleppey was not a big tourist destination, our main day trip was taking a boat ride on the backwaters which was amazing but the rest of our trip we spent alot of time hanging out in our hotel room which we didnt mind because palymyra was great.

If I have to stay near Marari beach again, then I will definitely choose again this home stay. Nice Food given by them, really liked that. I was hesitant to eat food cooked in coconut oil , but after eating let me tell you I had best Kerala food ever. Thanks for that. This hotel is very near to beach, and also very clean from inside. Cheap, Clean & treat for my tummy, that's how I would define this hotel.

The room was as described and all the facilities were working- wetroom is large and newly renovated- garden is beautiful and full of flowers and birds- Binu, Ansi and Sara gave us a warm welcome and really looked after us-the food was home cooked, fresh and tasty, with herbs out of the garden. Binu arranged transport for us and Sara offered us her green mango chutney recipe. It’s a good location to visit Alleppey or Vagamon. The only con was no kettle in the room.

We stayed one night as a family in September. The weather was not very good, it rained occasionally, but we enjoyed our stay at the hotel very much. The hotel rooms are maintained clean, the food at the restaurant was good and spicy. We took a lake cruise with a small boat for 1 hour. We got on the boat directly from the hotel garden, so it was easy and convenient. The lake was quiet and really fantastic. The hotel is located far from the center of Alleppey, and hence there seemed to be no many things to do there. However, it was fortunately the season of the Onam festival, and we could see many people coming to a small temple near the hotel. They wear beautiful and look attractive. We visited a small local market, where we found fresh vegetables and fruits. As this area is not well developed as a touristic place, people are friendly and helpful. I can recommend this hotel to those who love nature of south India.

We stayed for 3 nights in total, arriving at the hotel at 10pm after an all-day, horrendous journey. Now, our first room was dreadful and after an awful nights sleep following the awful journey I wrote a list of complaints for my husband to deal with. He spoke with the wonderful Rose and the whole situation was turned around. Rose changed our room and everything was much better from then on. 3 nights is too long in alleppey so I would definitely recommend you stay for only 2. Arrive day 1 and get your rest, then the following day get Rose to organise a 10-4 private backwater boat. We paid 6000 rupees and our 'driver' recommended an amazing lunch and lots of Toddy! Events organised by Citrus include 4:30 tea and snacks at the floating restaurant and a 5-6 sunset boat ride on the backwaters. Thanks Rose for turning our alleppey stay around. The foods great in the restaurant but the language barrier did cause some problems sometimes. Also, Alleppey beach isn't what is English call a beach. You can't sunbathe there but there is a beer and wine place :) If you're coming from outside of Kerala then bring yourself done alcohol down because it's so hard to get in Kerala.

we enjoyed our stay in the resort, it is a 15min walking distance from the beach and a short rickshaw ride from the jetty and therefore a quiet option in alleppey. the entrance, lounge and dining table are comfortable and nice. perfect for relaxing with e.g. a book after a long ride. they make sure there are no mosquito's in the room and the airco works. the bathroom was old/worn but clean and did the job. the staff is very friendly, quit and helpful. they arranged us a boat on the backwaters and taxi to munnar but were not pushing us to make a quick decision. i would recommend the place, good value.

We are couple from bangalore, from the moment I left cochin jeethu was Guiding us till the boat point in alleppey. From the roots road anirudh picked up the luggage and took us to the boat. Boat was decent and lil of retro style, not the new posh one. It had a balcony style attic on the top too. Our boat was driven by shiva, he knew tamil so manageable with him. The best part I had experienced was before docking for the night we entered a narrow canal which was an awesome view, the food was prepared by anirudh was very yummy, after docking, we had a long walk during sunset time along one of the villages, we tried fishing too.initially i was scared about the overnight stay in the village side, but the people were very sweet.,in the night they had arranged with perfectcandle light dinner with cake 🎂 and wine which I Had previouslybooked for .morning had Wonderful tea following bra breakfast and came on land at around 9.30am.this guy accompanied us till the car shifting luggages.but overall of the whole trip to kerala, jeethu has given me a memorable day in my life with my wife. Thanks to the crew.
