Traveling to Taiwan? Find Chiayi hotels

The tag-line of this property is "it is not a hotel, it is a home" They are quite right on that count, though I don't think I have ever stayed in a home quite so flash! It feels like an up-market apartment; and when you enter the building, you could easily mistake it for a fancy cocktail bar. There is art-work and photographs adorning the walls, and the atrium on the higher levels allows a glance at the design of the lower levels. This property is strong on comfort and style. It is a welcome change to stay in a hotel in Taiwan where someone has actually paid attention to the design and made sure everything is in the right place. It is hard to fault this hotel. However, you will pay through your teeth to stay here. It is twice the price of other business hotels in Chiayi and all you really get is the room. Location is okay, though I prefer something closer to the train station. There are two departments stores and many restaurants and bars outside. Also the BRT line runs down Chueiyang Road, so you can take it to Chiayi Park, or back to the Transport Center (which connects the train station, HSR station[40 minutes away], and long distance buses). It is also a 10 minute walk to the Carrefour and night market, and about 20 minutes to the Wenhua night market. I would certainly recommend for you to stay here once, if only for the novelty.

The best hotel for the price around Chiayi. Good size room with two queen beds. We used the extra bed for handy convenient place to put the clothing. We don't even need to use the available closet. Shopping center next door has surprisingly good bakery place in the basement B1. They also have the biggest Daiso store I have seen if you're into this kind of shopping. Very unexpected in the small city like Chiayi. Directly across from the front door is good Chinese style massage parlor. Full body massage is about TWD700/hr but you need to buy 2 hours for true top to bottom. If you are from US and miss Costco, there is one nearby. You have to walk about 8 minutes and the sun is very strong around here so umbrella is highly recommended. I don't see any taxi but you can probably call them to the hotel, if you are not walking type. No public transportation like buses nor subway.

Though it is a bit far out of the city,, that makes the 'Grand View Hotel (aka Yundeng Landscape Hotel) even more unique and soectacular!! Built atop a hill with a grand view of a gorgeous golf course and city lights of Chiayi, it is beautiful and peaceful. The restaurant is amazing, serving five course meals for just 540 NTD . Best food we have had! And the staff is superb! Attended to our every need! It is the little things they did that WOWED us!! There is a shuttle service for those of us without cars! A real top 5 star hotel! I will go back!!!

After booking a four night stay at ‘Hotel Day +’ hotel in Chiayi, we were very happy upon arrival with the hotel’s simple clean settings. However two instances left us very disappointed with the quality of the staff at the hotel. The first instance related to using the swimming pool, upon arrival the pool attendant was very Kurt boarding on rude telling us that we must have a bathing cap and wear the hotels Japanese Kimono. After returning with the necessary attire, the pool attendant hide away in the staff room with no care shown at all. This all changed when an attractive female guest arrived. The man pool attendant was incredibly caring, helped her with taking photos and did not require her to always have a bathing cap. Very disappointing to be treated differently based on age and looks. The second instance occurred during our breakfast meal. The hotel requires guests to book breakfast sittings during set times which we were happy to accomodate and worked well. However on one particular morning, despite booking between 8am until 9am we were asked to leave 20 minutes early to allow room for other guests. Considering we still finishing our coffees, we couldn’t help but be very disappointed with how we were treated. Overall a very nice clean hotel with modern feel with a few bad experiences with the staff. Would recommend further staff training to help ensure guests leave with positive feelings.

Booked at the last minute the night before Chinese new year's eve after discovering we had no accommodation at a relatives we weren't expecting much as we just needed a bed and a place to stay. We were suitably impressed with the facility and staff, who even changed rooms for us as the original room was a little noisy from elevators and people gathering around the elevators. Facilities are clean and new, bed is massive and comfortable. Public transport (bus with direct links to Alishan and Chiayi TRA and HSR stations) is nearby within 10 minutes walk, as is 2x major department stores and many other retailers on Chuiyang rd. 7 eleven is across the road and there is good easy access to all downtown areas if you have a car or a bike, and the HSR station in Taibao is around 20 minutes away by taxi if you don't want the bus. Breakfast inhouse was not bad at all and there was a variety of choice. happy to stay here again next time I'm in town.

Checked in to this hotel after a horrible experience at another hotel in Chiayi. I wish I had stayed here from the beginning! Very friendly staff. Service was amazing. Large, clean room with a terrace. It's a bit far from the train station for walking but we managed to walk there in about 20 minutes, which was fine. It's a great location for the night market (only 5 min away) I would definitely stay here again if I ever return to Chiayi.

hotel is located at Alishan hotel area(the place you alight after taking the bus from Chiayi station). So, location is superb! Easy access to all the places of interest within Alishan. Room comes with hair dryer and good wifi connection. Would have had no complaints about the hotel except for the fact that there was a dead moth rolled up within the blanket provided. Also, heater for shower is turned on from 4pm-8am (but hot water was still available at around 10am). Generally, a very conveniently located and comfortable hotel!

The location is quite far away from the night market of Chiayi City. Hence, the area is very quite and it is an advantage. There are many elegant restaurants / cafés around the hotel. You can actually to have the nice lunch, afternoon tea & dinner within 10 minutes walk around the hotel. Even if you want going to the night market in Chiayi City, you can just take a taxi with less than NTD 200 getting there. Honestly, Chiayi is a nice place for rest & relax. I will go Chiayi again and will be staying in this hotel.

The hotel lobby and room hallway were so modern. I stayed on 9th floor and the design was all about dinosaur. The room was so clean and they had a complete set of shower kit. Unlike other hotels in Taiwan, this one had a really bright room. Though they didn't have window, it didn't matter because the view wasn't that good. It's close to Chiayi train station, only 3 minutes walk. The breakfast was so common, such as Chinese style breakfast and bread n butter. Their service was excellent. Once my mom left her phone after checked-out of the hotel, when she realized the hotel clerk accompanied me to the room and help me look for it. Lucky I found it! Overall, this hotel is worth the price.

The hotel is quite new, the room I had was lovely with good facilities and a nice city view. The buffet breakfast enjoyed in the bright 5th floor cafe is very nice. It is only a 10mn walk from TRA Chiayi Station or the bus terminal, and there is a free parking 3mn from the hotel by foot. The only problem during my stay was an occasional bad smell from the bathroom plumbing.

Everything about the hotel room is above average, neat and tidy. Room service needs to be reminded for your room to make up, a couple of times during our stay, despite calling the service counter to ask for make up, it did not happen. They do not automatically make up your room it seems. The room makeup request button will not lit up if the hotel card is remove from socket. Even when lit, the makeup did not materalise. Only this aspect is grossly disappointing of a 4 star hotel. The air conditioning of the hotel cannot be adjusted at will. It is centrally managed and it can be very cold in the morning. The only option is to turn it off when cold, turn it back on when you feel stuffy. This is not optimal for good rest after one day of shopping.

Overall, we had a pleasant overnight stay at the Chiayi Crown. While the hotel is an old establishment (I'm guessing it was completed in the early 70's), it was clean. The shower was lacking in water pressure, but was more than adequately heated. The beds were comfortable enough, although they may be a bit too hard for some people. Staff was quick to provide service. We communicated in Chinese, so I'm not sure how they would handle foreign languages. Hotel offered to hold our luggage after checking out, a much appreciated gesture. Breakfast was a tasty affair, a buffet catered heavily towards Taiwanese tastes. Very conveniently located near the Chia Yi train station, easily within walking distance. For the price (1200 TWD/night), would consider staying again if in the area.

Stayed 1 night before we went to Mt. Alishan by train next morning. From the recommendations of the reviews, I booked breakfast buffet. My family absolutely loved it. My granny usually only eats tiny bits of every dish, but she loved the bitter melon stir-fry so much she ate 2 platefuls. It may not be the cheapest choice, but the room was very spacious and clean. Bathroom had a proper bath tub (not common for budget hotels in Taiwan). Conveniently located, 5-min walk to Chiayi Train Station. Plenty of eateries a few blocks away (not much around the hotel though). Convenience store Family Mart is across the hotel, and discount chain store Kuang Nan (one of my fav stores in Taiwan) is around the corner (2-min walk). Staff were friendly and helpful, and helped keeping our luggages when we went to Mt. Alishan. They had an informative video about the hotel for you to watch while waiting, very nice idea. Don't forget to make use of the massage chairs at the basement level.

Dang Guei is very worth of money, we stayed for 2 nights there and tour around alishan. The view is magnificent, if you cant wake up in the morning or you dont want to fight with the crowd to see the sunrise or sunset, just stay in Dang Guei. And you will experience sunset or sunrise from cloud sea. It will be quite hard to find the exact hotel location from LongTou bus station but Thanks to the owner, he will pick you up from longtou bus stop and send you back there if you want to travel around. Dang Guei is located in the middle of Chiayi and Alishan. So you wont have to travel too long to go either of the places (roughly around 1 hour to each place). At night, it is suggested to buy food from 7 eleven or get dinner at Dang Guei which is steam boat with unlimited meat and vegies for NTD 350 per head. For touring guidance the owner and maid will tell you where exactly the best time and places to go. In the end, its very worth it.

We forgot to pack one of our kid’s jacket on the check out date, and did not realize that we didn’t pack it with us until two days after and I wasn’t expect that it will still be there after two days of checking out the hotel. Surprisingly it was not stolen and it was nicely stored at a safe place. So greatful and definitely would come back live with them if we visit chiayi again!!!

I was in Taiwan for a vacation trip with one of my siblings and her friends. We decided to book a room in this hotel because it was inside the park. It was very convenient not having to travel from Chiayi to visit this park. We stayed in the hotel for around 2 nights in the quad deluxe room. Due to the climate, the room doesn't have an aircon. But is has a heater and beds with electric blankets. The beds were also very comfortable. The receptionist was very accomodating given that we don't speak Chinese. Having jackets for rent was great since I didn't bring clothes appropriate for Alishan's weather. The breakfast was composed of some pao bread, nuts, lettuces and some sweet and spicy side dishes. I really loved the taste of their soymilk and coffee. The coffee was not overly better and was sweet. Overall, I really loved my stay in here. I wouldn't mind booking here again in the future.

Had no issues with the stay. The hotel looks and feels a bit old, there is free wifi and TV. Features are minimal as you would expect from a hotel on the mountain. Its location is the same as every other hotel in alishan. electric blanket is useful, although we found it cold at night due to the heater not functioning very well. The hotel provides wake up calls before sunrise at 5am and can book tours for you. Breakfast is provided but is in another building. Although breakfast is basic (congee and various condements, vegies, buns), I quite enjoyed the food that was served especially on a cold morning. Located down a flight of stairs from 7-11 (only thing open at night) next to Alishan station. All buses from chiayi and chiayi HSR station stop infront of 7-11, beware of the stairs at night as there is no lighting, alternatively you can walk an extra 5 minutes by following the road that goes up to 7-11. At the base of the stairs is the hotel and a few others with similar type of buildings.

This hotel located in a beautiful area between Alisan and Chiayi. It's alitte bit far off the road but the staff pick you up from Fushan bus station (call them in advance). Staff can speak general English, very nice and friendly. When the bus to Fengqihu was fulled at the weekend, he kindly drove me to station. The room is equipted with modern facilities (better than all the other 4 stars hotel I stayed in Taipei). It's very close to walking trail and good spot for sunrise. Nice place to stay if you plan to visit Alisan

Too far away from Public Transport - inconvenience Overprice for the location. It is hard to find and long walk from the Main Train station at Chiayi. It is a 30 min car-ride to the High speed train station (cost about 400 NTD) For a small town, though the hotel is a slightly high standard but the price is considered too much. The staff is not friendly as other hotels we have experienced in Taiwan. Kind of disappointing Suppose this is the only ok hotel in the area, seems like we have no choice but to stay there.
