Maritza, the front desk manager, was very helpful and professional. Great location, near marina, tons of restaurants, etc. Maids noisy, talking and laughing, in hallway at around 9am every day. Airport noise from planes are loud but there are no takeoffs after 12:30am or before 6,30am. Hotel needs some TLC but for the price I would stay here again.

Old facility but really clean and affordable ”

The lobby gives a first good impression. The room furniture is old. But is really clean. And I enjoyed staying there. Plus is the best price I found

OK for the money”

Look, the Consulate is not the Ritz. It is under some sort of construction and the rooms are more than a little outdated. In spite of this, the friendly staff and reasonable price make it worth it for a quick overnight stay.

I love this Hotel . It is so convenient and accommodating. But there are some issues that should have some attention. I don't mean to complain , however as being from a family of hotel ownership in much smaller communities I can point out some mistakes the hotel has. Yes I would recommend this hotel, the prices and the excellent convenient locations is the best. Your destinations' of SeaWorld, Pedco Park, Seaport Village, The Midway Museum , Balboa Park, The Hornblower Tours, Liberty Center and Old Town are with 5 t0 10 minutes . Denny's, McDonalds, Dukin Donuts, Starbuck, are right across the street . The Finer restaurants and the Gaslamp Quarter, Shelter Island & Marina District 2-5 minutes .. Hotel Parking is safe and plentiful, Public transportation are footsteps away.. The rooms are of good size on comfortable. . Now the bad news: Minimum maintenance is required for a complete satisfactory visit.. Pool & Spa, heating/cooling units, printed material needs much corrections.

As an Economy Hotel @$150.00 a night its no at deal at all. International Hostel Beds for $25 maybe, been even then its a little sketchy. Not clean, or maintained. Not enough memory for all the pictures of all the wrong, broken, dirty, smelly, noisy, scary things. But if you need shelter here you are. Showers hot, HBO, Bed was clean, coffee in the room wasn't terrible, continental breakfast, or pastry and coffee, tea, Coco, maybe an Oatmeal. Walkability score is like 90. Market, restaurants and Shelter Island are all minutes walk. Marina offers all kinds of amenities. This would be a good spot it your on an early sport fishing charter. $10 for parking is BS, there a basement garage no one explained so I parked in Handicap parking. Karaoke bar was on Saturday night so no parking. Shelter at Shelter Island. But seriously, Its not for the weak or faint of heart, crash bad travelers, hostel, packing, military drill weekend maybe if no per dium. Just location, bed, shower, locking door.

The hotel is located under the flight path of airport (noise). DO NOT accept a room on the top floor (6th) near the elevator. The elevator motor will be above your head (noise). You will hear it any time ANYONE uses the elevator. Thin walls and floor.s.. yes more noise. The hotel also offers hostel/shared rooms... I hope everyone is paying attention... avoid this property. Other poor scores for the following: room does not smell fresh, unnecessarily charge for parking (just park on the street, there's plenty), rubbery scones for continental breakfast, one unstocked vending machine for the entire hotel, must I keep going? Avoid this property.

Horrible. Despite advertizing non-smoking room/hotel, they checked us in a room full of smoke. When complained they just simply reimbursed and almost threw us out of hotel at 1 in the morning. We were couple and were very scared as none of the hotels in San Diego had no room available. We almost wanted to spent the night in our car. The manager of the hotel was extremely rude over the phone and suggested hotel staff to spray air freshener in the room. Although they advertized that the hotel now runs under new management, we wonder whether it is from frying pan to fire. At last, we advised how to resolve this issue and luckily after 3 hours of negotiation they managed to provide a downgraded room where we slept for few hours and left the hotel with heavy heart. the receptionist during checkout was the only person who genuinely apologized to us.
