“Make sure you know what you are there for.”

This place is a real mixed bag. The staff were warm and welcoming and it felt as though they were eager to make my time there as positive as they could. Alot less English was known by the staff than other accomodation I've used in Japan but only minimal communication was required so it worked. They clearly take pride in their Onsen and the service they are providing, however time has unfortunately taken a toll. It is clean but very much in need of renovation. There are stains and marks all around the hotel, carpets, walls, hot springs that are just down to age. The place feels worn down. I wanted a reasonably priced Onsen experience in the Hakone area that would also have a traditional room set up for me to try. And it provides this. A good sized room and entrance way with private toilet. No shower other than the sit down public baths ones. The public baths were great. Just remember you'v got to go naked. Men and women are fully segregated. Must have a thorough shower first.

“Quiet at a relatively remote location, better to provide more guide for drivers”

Pros: 1. Far from busy area, quiet at nice. Peaceful 2. Good food for dinner and breakfast 3. Got outdoor onsen area, nice /calm night bath outdoor Cons: 1. Onsen was only so-so 2. No in-room shower/bath, not too convenient (known before booking, just need to pay attention to this) 3. Except for one nice man greeting us at the reception who's polite, helpful and cheerful; other staff are rather tense and lack of smile. 4. Lack of road sign/ direction to get to the hotel for drivers; GPS a bit confusing to show the hotel located on a slope and car needs to drive to a small road at a cross road all in all not a bad choice but should have other options, and have rooms for improvement to provide better staying experience for travellers.
