“Only book if you're not physically sensitive or if you don't have any other choice”
I booked this hotel because I've heard good things about the Livemax company. Unfortunately, my one night's stay was so bad that I've decided to cancel the other two nights I booked. Value for money - the price is decent, but for a couple more thousand yen you could book other much better hotels in the area. Location - no comment here, it's in a nice area reasonably close to the Yokohama Station. Cleanliness - I should have taken reviews mentioning the dust problem seriously. You could clearly see so much dust on surfaces and the dust would fly about when I was using the hair dryer. It seems like they have very limited staff and don't have the bandwidth to clean thoroughly between bookings. I also accidentally booked a smoking room which made the situation worse. I've booked a "smoking room" at a different business hotel before but there was no trace of nicotine anywhere because they're cleaned properly, as expected. Not so with Livemax: the entire room is thick with the smell of cigarette smoke that I slept less than 4 hours with a face mask on, risking possibly getting sick (I would have left but I checked in late and there were no other hotels with availability in the area). I could also see the inside of the air conditioning unit and it looks like it hasn't been cleaned in years. Staff - The receptionists on the night shift were professional, helpful, and went out of their way to help me with my situation considering how little they can do. However, when I checked for my booking a few days earlier during the day, the woman behind the desk seemed disinterested. She communicated with me on Google translate but she couldn't even manage a greeting or a professional show of acknowledgement befitting a hotel receptionist. It's a pity because her colleagues were amazing considering their workplace. Facilities - it's what you would expect for the price. I would have been perfectly happy with the provided facilities if they were clean. In summary, only stay here if there's literally nowhere else to go and you don't mind some dust and very strong smell of smoke. Hope they get to see these feedbacks and do something about their operation.
