We decided to spend the New Year's Eve in Seoul, and after searching for a hotel in the Dongdaemun area that had a bathtub and received NHK channels, we arrived at this hotel. The hotel had both positive aspects and some disappointing ones. The room and hotel were very clean, spacious, and provided a comfortable stay. During our stay, I was moved by how kindly and carefully they returned a bag that I had lost. However, there might be some concerns regarding the guidance from the front desk and staff. There seems to be quite a difference in service level depending on who you interact with. I had booked a middle-class room with a bathtub, but during check-in, they likely upgraded our room as a courtesy. However, that room did not have the desired bathtub, and we ended up having to change rooms the next day. The upgraded room had the coveted LG Styler installed and was very modern and comfortable. It would have been perfect if it had a bathtub, but we prioritized having a bathtub, so we moved back to the original class room for our second night. That room was also spacious and comfortable, of course, with a bathtub included. However, moving from room to room, combined with negotiating with the front desk, can be a loss of valuable time and energy during a trip, so I would prefer to avoid that. We were able to watch NHK without any issues and enjoyed a luxurious New Year's Eve indulging in Korean chicken while watching the New Year’s Eve special. The hotel has a microwave and a coin laundry. Washing and drying cost 3,000 won each, and there is a vending machine for detergent without fabric softener for 1,000 won right next to it. The state of the machines was somewhat… so I think it's a good idea to bring detergent with a washing tub cleaning function from Japan. We brought small packets of NanoX and it was a good choice. Since there was no fabric softener in the vending machine, we purchased it from a nearby convenience store. It was a bit expensive, and since we didn’t use it all, it was somewhat disappointing. Regarding the location, if you're coming from Euljiro 4-ga station, it's best to be prepared for about a 10-minute walk. There are gentle slopes and steps that aren’t sloped, making it quite a hassle to carry a suitcase. Also, the entrance is a little tricky to find as it’s located on a narrow, winding path that isn’t shown correctly on the Naver map, so initially, I got lost a bit while carrying my suitcase. It was cold, and I got quite exhausted. Walking along an underpass-like road can be unsettling, but rest assured, if that happens, you are still heading in the right direction (laughs). One reason we chose to stay here was because it was reasonably close to Dongdaemun; however, since there’s a subway station one stop away, it might be inconvenient for daily visits. For those who prioritize Dongdaemun, I believe it’s better to stay in a hotel there. Overall, it doesn't feel like the best, but rather a hotel that seems to be striving to grow? The level of staff varies quite a bit. Some staff members blatantly ignore guests from other countries, which was disheartening to witness. Also, regarding the room change, it felt like I was being lectured over the phone for some reason, which honestly left me feeling quite uncomfortable. (For the record, I tried to converse as politely as possible in Korean.) The location is good for enjoying Chungmuro Street and Euljiro. You can experience a more down-to-earth side of Seoul. It seems like there are many mid-tier universities around Chungmuro, reminding me of the Takadanobaba area in Tokyo. The hotel also seems to host many weddings for locals, and on weekends, they requested that hotel guests refrain from entering the first-floor area. Additionally, it's a minor point, but some notices in the elevator were not straight, and there were small misalignments here and there, giving me the impression of things being a bit off. Attention to detail is important, isn’t it? However, I believe the young staff are working hard, and I truly hope they grow into a wonderful hotel. It’s a tough decision on whether to repeat my stay, but if the opportunity arises, I would like to visit again.

This is my favorite accommodation that I use every year when traveling to Seoul. This time, in January 2026, we stayed in two twin rooms for four people. I was very happy to be upgraded to the Prestige Twin. Positive points: - I was surprised by how fluent the front desk staff were in Japanese. Everyone I spoke to was kind and made me feel at ease. The cleaning staff also greeted me with a smile, which was nice. - The upgraded Prestige Twin had separate toilet and shower areas separated by a sink, making it clean and spacious. The balcony had a comfortable sofa, which was very nice. Negative points: - In one of the two rooms, there were three USB ports, but two of them were loose and couldn't charge, which was problematic. - The other room had noticeable dirt in places that seemed to have caused scratches on the floor, which was disappointing. - There was a steam closet in the room, but the instructions were only in Korean, making it hard to understand how to use it. - It seemed there was a banquet happening, and many locals gathered in front of the elevator on the front desk floor after the event, which made it difficult to get onto the elevator. I think it would be good if someone could help guide them better. This is definitely a hotel I want to stay at again.

Our stay at Hotel PJ Myeongdong was a mix of positives and drawbacks. Starting with the negatives — the location was quite inconvenient. It is not close to any subway stations or airport limousine bus stops, and we had to drag our luggage across uneven pavements, which could easily damage luggage wheels. The surrounding area also had very few shops or amenities within walking distance. One major disappointment was the lack of a sheltered drop-off point. On a day of heavy rain, our cab had to stop at the hotel’s pick-up area, only to realize it was completely unsheltered — quite surprising for a four-star hotel. On the positive side, the room was spacious, well laid out, and very comfortable. The bed was excellent, and the toilet facilities were modern with strong hot water pressure. However, on the last day, the bidet malfunctioned, causing water to spray unpredictably and wetting the walkway and wall. We appreciated the complimentary minibar items and the thoughtful inclusion of non-caffeinated tea options for nighttime. There was also a large dryer or ironing machine in the room, although it would have been helpful if the staff could guide us on how to use it. Overall, this hotel offers great comfort and amenities, but its poor location and lack of sheltered access may not suit all travelers. We would still recommend it to guests who prioritize room comfort and value over convenience of location.
Dear Mr./Ms. kenny, This is Hotel PJ Front Desk. We sincerely thank you for leaving such a wonderful review. Above all, we truly hope you enjoyed your journey with Hotel PJ. We will always strive to provide better service. All our staff look forward to sharing another pleasant journey with you at Hotel PJ in the future. Thank you.
This was a hotel I had been curious about for a long time, and I was taken care of this time. The gentleman at the entrance was very friendly and kind, and the staff at the front desk provided sufficient service. I believe the room was the smallest double room, but even so, there was ample space outside the bed where I could spread out around three large suitcases. The building itself seems old, but it appears that the facilities are regularly renovated and very clean. It seemed that another room on the floor I stayed on was being renovated as well, and there was a message in my room saying they would disturb me with the noise, but I didn’t feel it at all. (It seemed they were doing it during short hours to minimize the impact during the day.) When I placed the "do not disturb" sign, they discreetly left a note under the entrance door saying, "If you put out the OK sign, we will clean," which made me feel that this hotel is considerate. I often feel slightly anxious at any hotel if they don't do that, so I appreciated it. The large trash can was also a plus, as most hotels have small ones that overflow. One small disappointment was that there were no trains or buses right in front of the hotel, so you have to go out onto the main road, and I noticed a few short hairs that didn’t belong to me in the bathroom area. I wished they would have worked harder to keep that clean. Although the hairdryer had instructions, it showed an error and couldn’t be used, which was a shame. Despite the disappointments, I was treated politely during my inquiries beforehand, and there were detailed explanations written in Japanese everywhere, so I hardly needed to ask the front desk when I read the delivery or laundry instructions properly. Above all, I was surprised that everything in the refrigerator was free, with standard water, three types of soda totaling four bottles, and even Pringles, which was delightful. It was such a comfortable hotel that made me want to stay longer, so I would love to visit again. Thank you very much.

“Great hotel!”
Love the hotel. We stayed in the prestige room and I have plans to check in to their single room. The prestige room had a balcony and hardwood floors with good amount of space. Some work was not complete in the restroom and bath area (moldings/chalking), but clean and new. Public transportation is easy. The surrounding area is in a rebuilding stage so nothing is really open. The surrounding area is quiet with no one around after work. The mini fridge was stocked and free of charge. They have a cute caffe bene and a 24 hour CU (convenience store). The shuttle service was convenient as well. The AC was perfect for the humid June weather. Early check in was 22,000won. I didn’t utilize the luggage storage, but it was available. A little crowded on weekends when there are banquet events, but overall a great stay. Beds were comfortable. Will return.
