The building/rooms are certainly a bit old and the place is not exactly spotless, but the location is great: only a 5-minute walk to Hongdae Station, and with a bus stop right in front of it as well. I don't think I'd use this location for a long stay, but for just a night or two when you have things to do in Hongdae, I think it's great.

Affordable price ”
Affordable price hence don’t expect anything here though. This guesthouse has no lifts and I was allocated a level 4 room as I booked a single room for a night. Not too fun lugging luggages up to 4th floor and down the next day. Was a struggle and the heater provided in the room is very under whelming and created weird noises and seemed like it was going to break down any moment.

Manager is not kind but volunteers are amazing”
So bros I totally just had my jacket and bathroom bag on the empty top bunk bed that no one has used in 40 days and the new manager came in and threw that stuff on top of me as I was sleeping. He said if I did it again he would kick me out fam. Dude needs to chill out. I'm the only customer here and will check out soon now. He treated me horribly. That was unreal.

Couldn't be higher”
I only can give one star for this. First, one of the staff was quite rude. I was talking nicely and being threw back a rude replied. Secondly, the room is smelly and dirty. Daily cleaning just vacuum the place you can see, but under the bed is full of dust. The room was so smelly and they don't even think about putting a deodorant or spray something. Third, the toilet only clean one time per day. There is a toilet cleaning checklist on the door, but that is just for photo, they don't even follow that checklist. Forth, every night the common ground was so noisy, no one care about the guesthouse's rule.

Worst Manager”
They’re the one who made the error of not providing the keys even though I sent an email that the flight was delayed. I was pissed that I was forced to stay on the basement, sitting and waiting for the front desk to open instead of resting. When the manager opened the desk at 9, HE became upset that I’m complaining first thing in the morning. He SHOUTED that I should find some other guesthouse who can provide a much better service. And I DID. Cheap bed space is not enough to make me go back. There are TONS of guesthouse with the same price level but with really good staff and quiet environment. Skip this place. Agoda compensated me for the cancellation of the whole booking.

I was so panic as I forgot that I am arriving one day before the day i book the guesthouse. I also worried if the price for one night stay for any guesthouse in seoul will be expensive for year-end stay. But there must be a reason why i always choose kimchee sinchon guesthouse for a quick and room availability. Everything is so convenient here, book on the same day and got my wide dorm immediately. Also thanks David who always kind helping me out and explain patiently to all of my questions. I am currently enjoying my remaining days in seoul and my stay in kimchee sinchon guesthouse

Best Location, Best Staff, Best Ever hostel!!!”
I'd like to applaud Kimchee Sinchon guesthouse! They never fail to accommodate their guest. Very welcoming and awesome basement where you can meet other travelers and meet friends that you can keep for life! I just love this place so much I feel like it's my second home! And my last stay I made new friends to keep in my heart for life! Their new staffs are the best Mia, Saba & Mickey, you gotta love Kimchee and their staff! The diversity of people working here makes you feel like you've travelled everywhere. They share their stories and the culture they are from. I'm so happy to see Minook, Shermaine, Lucky (changed his name to DK) haha Q!!! Tracy and the other staff. Thank you so much. The value of the price of staying here is so so much convenient and wise. I think they should raise there rate, because their services. Staff, location is the best. Seoul is my life. Can't wait to go back here!!!!! I miss you guys so much! Saba, Mia, Mickey, Tracy, Minook, Shermaine, Q and all of you guys! I'm coming back pretty soon. This place is a wonderland!!!

Good place to stay”
I have a really great time staying in Kimchee Sinchon Guesthouse. The location was the best. Very close to one of the most happening place in Seoul i.e Hongdae, easy accessible via subways and bus station. The atmosphere was really good because I had a chance to meet with lots of very friendly guests and we actually hangout together to explore Hongdae. The staff was friendly, always greet us happily whenever we pass by the counter. The facilities was okay, but the only turning point during my stay was that one of the toilet in the 3rd floor cannot be used. Still it was one of the best place to stay, because Hongdae is amazing!!

Friendly and Hospitable Atmosphere”
Kimchee Sinchon Guesthouse has the most friendly atmosphere that any hostel can offer compared to other guesthouses I have stayed on. The moment I reserved my booking from Agoda.com, I was contacted separately through email by their staff confirming my stay with them and offered assistance as to what particular need I may require prior to my arrival. Upon check-in, the reception desk is glamorously decorated indicating the place's friendly and vibrant atmosphere. I was well-assisted. She's the coolest and hippest receptionist I have ever encountered. Since I arrived earlier than check-in time, she offered me to leave my luggages since I came from a long flight to Seoul. She then offered me travel tips as well as transportation guides since it was my first time in South Korea. In all, Kimchee Sinchon is a place that can clearly meet one's needs for a place to stay and refresh after a day of touring around and sightseeing - a decent bed, shower and toilet facilities which are periodically cleaned. Oh, I might forget the cozy basement they've got. It houses the kitchen, lounge, dining, internet facilities, free Wii, laundry and the awesome dart game. You can definitely hang on the basement and meet other fellow guests staying in the guesthouse and make some new acquaintances.

Great Location Great Value!”
+VE Location: Absolutely superb location. It is located near Hongdae station, but the good thing is it is in the other side of Hongdae (closer to the Sinchon Side) which means it is relatively peaceful. But if you decide to go to Hongdae's more hip and happening night life and restaurants .... it is just a few minutes walk away! From Hongdae station itself you are pretty much within 15 minutes of most of the major attractions (Myeongdong, itaewon, dongdaemun, Yeouinaru etc). The guesthouse is located near a line of shops and cafes and also a supermarket! you would definitely not have problems finding food and supplies! Side note: Try the ISAACS sandwiches just beside the fresh fruit stall. They are to die for! Cleanliness Relatively clean! Staff clean it everyday. Facilities Wifi in room. Lockers provided (but bring own lock) Lounge area for cooking and eating. Washer and dryer (but must pay). Computers to use. TV and games. Staff Huey was really friendly and always greeted me with a smile. He helped to carry my heavy luggage upon check in and did so and smiled all the way lol. All staff can speak english. -VE Ive stayed in this guesthouse before and did not experience this the last time. I do not think it is the fault of the guesthouse (or maybe it is) but it is something i have to bring up. There's a program there where you can stay for free in exchange for working as a cleaning staff for a few hours a day. Most of these guys stay over long periods and for that reason they get comfortable with the guesthouse and the other staff and treat it as home. Nothing wrong with that. But i feel that this big group of people just "conquer" and over run the lounge and make other guests feel like they are not welcomed to use the facilities. Also they are really loud at night slamming doors and talking loudly. It is just something i noticed. I felt as though i was intruding into their family dinner space and they would look at you up and down when you entered into the

Hidden but definitely worth it!”
I arrived past 4am so there was no one around when I arrived. Nevertheless, they left the key to my room and I checked in the morning after. I booked for an 8 bed dorm room but they provided me with a single bed room probably because I arrived way too late and this is to avoid me disturbing other guest. Such a considerate decision for them. Thanks again Kimchee Sinchon Guesthouse and looking forward to staying here the next time I am in Seoul :)
