“It has loads of potential!!”
We enjoyed our stay mostly. We chose it due to the location and the value and when we seen it got a makeover we were sold! That’s also where it got a little tricky because some of the makeover looks like a bandaid job which was disappointing to see starting with the painting over imperfections—it looks awful, especially in the bathrooms. We had to switch rooms due to some cleanliness issues which they did without thinking twice so much appreciated. The serving room has a better view but a stark contrast to the previous one: the bathroom was not upgraded, no backsplash in the tub area, the tub needed to be reglazed, no flat top burners but an old hot plate tossed on the counter…literally and the thermostat was incredibly old-that yellowing 1970s color—we found out it didn’t work on our last night there once the rain stopped. They do have 24 hr maintenance, we choose to deal with it since it was our last night and we were exhausted coming in late night. They comped us and recommended calling maintenance in real time. The lady at the coffee shop people skills were awful to be serving $4 cups of ok coffee. While we knew there was only valet and it was $30/night that was my least favorite part, having to wait. I know people like valet but for us it was inconvenient when you want to get up and go quickly. We had an unpleasant experience with them one night trying to order a pizza for pick up and time our car arrival. They tell you 30 min, 20 min or 10-15 min your car will be ready. This particular night they had an event that night and were ill prepared for the guest arriving quickly. They forgot about our car, we were getting brushed off and finally when I get upset she heard me and our car came—not aligned with the pizza any longer so we ended up having to reorder. For the things we loved: the front desk staff were impeccable! Very friendly and accommodating. If for nothing else they were reason enough to want to come back and give it another shot. The heated pool was lots of fun especially if your a morning person and want to take a dip, we had a private entrance to the beach although we got rained out that weekend we got a little beach time in, there is a gift shop/conscience store and restaurant in the hotel as well as ocean front workout room. The full size fridge was a nice touch with all the eating out. While we had toiletries, it was nice of them to have full size bottles of shampoo, conditioner and body wash available. Overall it we enjoyed our birthday and would recommend the stay. I do hope they continue with the remodels and properly.
