“A ryokan with a modern sensibility.”

        1. Location: It's right in front of you as soon as you get off at the Daigatake bus stop after taking the T line from Hakone-Yumoto Station (about 30-40 minutes). There’s a convenience store as soon as you get off at the stop, and you can reach the lobby of the building in about 2 minutes of walking. It's set a little back, so the surroundings are quiet, making it a great place to feel relaxed and rejuvenated. 2. Room: It is very spacious. Naturally, it's comfortable for two people, and it's spacious enough to accommodate families as well. The open-air bath in the room may look small in the pictures, but it doesn't feel cramped even for two people. Although there isn’t a ceiling, the structure allows you to feel the outside breeze sufficiently. You can turn on and lock both cold and hot water at any time. 3. Meals: Both dinner and breakfast were very delicious. They provide explanations, and especially since it's a "nomihoudai," it’s great for enjoying drinks as well. Considering that the accommodation fee includes two meals of this quality, I didn't think the accommodation fee was expensive. 4. Staff: Everyone was friendly, but there was one staff member who was especially kind, and I regret not remembering their name.

        “Perfect country getaway”

This was such a great break from the busy city life after traveling from osaka and kyoto! The room was very very spacious and comfortable, making us feel right at home. The personal onsen in the room was nice too, giving us some privacy while still being able to enjoy the benefits of an onsen. The food included was really yummy, with every dinner being a big spread, and for the 3 nights we were there, it was different menu every night. The breakfast was a bit more similar but nonetheless still nice. There is also free flow drinks included for dinner! Overall it was a really nice hotel and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves :)

“I'd go back in a heartbeat”

I stayed for one night as I travelled between Tokyo and Kyoto. I wanted more of a traditional Japanese experience and with a tattoo I was anxious about public onsens. This hotel seemed ideal as there was a private onsen in the room. And oh. my. goodness. What a treat. It was delightful. The food was also excellent. I am a fussy eater (think peanut butter sandwiches and chicken nuggets and chips being my staple diet for most of my life). The staff were super kind and understood my anxieties and helped me work out what to do. There was also a helpful set of videos to watch to show you how to eat the dishes. They were all really lovely. I tried as much as I could (and didn't hate a lot of it!). And the staff never appeared to judge me or my lack of empty plates. There was enough food to feed two people.... but it was all just for 1!? Breakfast was the same. One of my favourite bits was the unlimited access to drinks. Ice and soda or something similar. Very helpful when you want to spend a couple of hours in the onsen! Overall, I wish I was there longer, but very grateful for the experience!

        “Very comfortable and nice stay”

our stay was very comfortable. The rooms were very clean and private bath in the room was good. The public bath was also very good and neat and clean. Food was excellent. My wife is a vegetarian; I wrote an email to the hotel and they gave a very good vegetarian spread. Also, drinks were on the house

        “Very good”

We chose this onsen for its excellent reviews, and it truly lived up to them. The ambiance is quiet and serene, making for a wonderful experience. Cons: The location is a bit out of the way. After finishing our itinerary at the Torii Gate around 5:30 pm, it was already dark. Apple and Google Maps directed us to a bus stop on the street, but when the bus arrived, it didn’t stop—turns out it wasn’t an official bus stop. Fortunately, we managed to catch a passing taxi, but it cost around 55 CAD as it was quite a long drive. Be mindful of your timing and itinerary if you plan to visit. That said, the onsen is conveniently close to an official bus stop and a Lawson convenience store, both just a 3-minute walk away. Pros: The food here is truly fantastic! We loved the sukiyaki night—it was so filling, we barely had room for the fish. The yuzu sorbet and grape jelly were also delicious! Our room was quiet, cozy, and comfortable, with a table and chairs if you want to dine in. We also had a private onsen, which was a highlight, but we tried the public one as well since it uses a different type of water. Although it was public, I had it all to myself as the previous guest was just leaving, which was nice given the privacy concerns around being fully undressed. I didn’t notice any signs about tattoos, either. In the lobby, they offer free ice cream, DIY kakigori (shaved ice), and a variety of drinks, which was a fun touch. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
